Which type of fencing is the most durable?

Your fence is an investment and an important part of your property, so you want to make sure that your new fence is as durable as possible. Fences are constantly exposed to elements that can cause them to break or deteriorate, but some are more likely to stand the test of time than others.

In this article, we will compare the durability of some different fencing options. Hopefully this guide can help you choose which type of fencing to use on your property if durability is one of your top priorities.

Wood fencing durability

Wood fencing is very popular due to its lovely, natural appearance and the variety of colours and styles available. They can be very versatile, and may be used for protection, privacy or aesthetic.

Wood fencing, however, is not the most durable as wood is a material that may break down over time. That being said, if the wood fence is made from high quality materials, installed and treated properly, and well-maintained, it can last a very long time.

At A & G Fencing, we use only the highest quality Canadian cedar and our experienced crew will make sure that your new fence is as durable and possible. Learn more and see examples of some of our wood fences here.

Chainlink fencing durability

Chainlink is a great option for affordable, durable fencing. Its materials are not likely to break down easily or be heavily affected by the elements, especially when galvanized.

Our chainlink fencing is galvanized and even comes with a limited warranty. You can learn more about our chainlink fencing options here.

Vinyl fencing durability

Vinyl fencing is becoming increasingly popular due to its aesthetic appeal, low maintenance requirements and durability.

Even after being exposed to the elements, vinyl fencing remains like new. The cost of vinyl fencing is typically higher initially, but pays off over time as it typically does not need to be replaced or fixed for many years. You can learn more about our vinyl fencing options here.

Iron fencing durability

Not only does iron fencing look timeless and elegant, but it is very durable and can withstand several elements and conditions.

While it is extremely durable, iron fencing does require some maintenance in order to stay in tip-top shape as they can be subject to rust. Learn more about our iron fencing options and view examples here.

So, which type of durable fencing is the best option for you? That depends on a few factors, including the other purposes of your fence, your budget and the look that you’re going for.

In the end, some options are more durable than others, but it’s always important to ensure that you are using high quality materials and having your fences installed properly for maximum durability.
