Hiring a fencing company is a big decision, you’re making a significant investment, and you’re hoping to have your fence for many years to come. That’s why it’s important to hire the right company - to avoid headaches, delays and make sure the job is done right the first time. But how do you know you’re hiring the fencing company? Well, you could be done with it, and hire us, but if you really want to do your due diligence, there are a few things to help ensure you pick the right company.
Getting multiple estimates is important. It will give you a good idea about which company offers the best value. It sounds like a lot of work, but it really isn’t, and there’s nothing underhand about seeking multiple quotes. In fact, tell each estimator that visits that you’re obtaining multiple quotes before making a decision, as this may encourage him/her to give you the most competitive price possible.
Make sure you ask the estimators any questions you may have. Ask them about their timeline, warranty/guarantee, whether hardware and gates are part of the estimated cost etc. Ask any questions you can think of. If the company is reputable and wants your business, the estimator will do his/her best to answer your questions.
Thanks to the Internet, there are not many places for bad companies to hide. Before you even call for quotes, read the reviews and only contact the companies with the best testimonials.
Ask the estimator if his/her company has done any work in your neighbourhood, as you’d like to check out some finished work. If not, ask for other locations somewhere in your town/city. The company must have done work somewhere! Ask for multiple examples, and then go and check out the fencing and call on the homeowner(s) and ask them how the project went. Was the project completed as promised, on-time etc.?
Keep these things in mind when hiring a fencing company, and you won’t go far wrong.
