1. Flip The Fence Boards

One of the easiest ways to modernize the look of your new fence is to turn the fence boards so that they lay horizontally rather than vertically. 2. Use Different Sizes

Another popular trend in contemporary fences is the use of different sized boards and slats. Using wider planks on the bottom of a horizontal fence and then gradually making the boards thinner towards the top creates the look of an “ombre” fence like no other.

3. Skip The Wood
